I’m a lover of handmade beautiful things and of course a fan of all Mexican textiles. I love to decorate with them because they add color and textures too any room, I would fill my house with these cushions undoubtedly and also mexican textiles can be used to upholster furniture or home accessories like the headboard of your bed. The technique used in Chiapas is my favorite, but you can find similar combinations and styles throughout the country, many times it’s just the thickness of the thread that changes from place to place. A main characteristic of their technique is the use of bright colors and that’s what I like the most, combinations of bright green, purple, yellow and pink just grab my attention and the shapes too, which often are flowers, curves or pre-hispanic shapes. Of course I love the clothes, blouses, skirts, bags, wallets and other personal items that look great too, like my green-blue bag that is in the picture above, I found it in Mexico City and it has been one of my favorites since then!
If one day you get the chance to go to Mexico visit Palenque and San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, I go whenever I can because my family lives near there and it’s so beautiful and peaceful, I lived near there for almost 20 years and to date the crafts from the area continue to amaze me.
