Szalay’s Chairs, I Love Them All!
If you have ever visited my Pinterest board “Things I love” you will see that I have pinned a couple of chairs similar to Szalay’s designs. Szalay Contemporary Design is a company created by the designer Hélio Szalay. The company focus on create unique pieces using ancient materials in a sustainable way, mixing a punch of tradition and modern sophistication. All their products are really unique, I love them all. You’ll see, I just adore ethnic textiles and I can’t resist upholstered furniture with ethnic touches, they look so edgy and original. I definitely would love to have one of Szalay chairs! Gosh, I’m just dreaming about that right now, a couch full of colorful and ethnic pillows and one of Szalay’s chairs to one side with a brass bronze coffee table next to it, some books and a tangerine scented candle.
I’m so tempted to buy one but first I need a bigger apartment I also have to admit that I would love to try to upholster a stool or a small chair by myself. I want to learn how to upholster so badly since I found the picture of Grace Bonney’s apartment in her own book, Design Sponge at Home, I fell in love. I have so many projects in my mind that I want to try when we move to a bigger space. Using some beautiful textiles from Chiapas, Mexico to cover a chair for the living room or the headboard of my bed is without a doubt one of my favorites. Wouldn’t that be cool?
If decide not to try this project, I will definitely go back to Szalay’s website to buy one of these original chairs.
