DIY: Easy Punched Paper with Kids

Como hacer papel picado facil tutorial

Back in 2011 just when I started my blog I made a tutorial about how to make punched paper for Halloween. Well, checking my Google stats I discovered that “How to make punched paper” is actually my most viewed post!! How cool is that? I guess people are really curious about how to make traditional Mexican punched paper. Back then I explained that the traditional way to make these joyful flags of tissue paper is using a chisel, but honestly, although it would be amazing making some punched paper the traditional way, a super duper easy one sounds a lot of fun too, especially when it's easy enough for the little kids to make.

So I let my mind work for a bit looking for an easier way to make them, even easier than last time when I used an exacto knife. I was so curious about how a normal sheet of paper would work for this project, because sometimes tissue paper can be a pain in the butt. Well, this little experiment worked! The letter size sheets of paper are just the perfect size to make these bright flags.

Wanna try this for Cinco the mayo? Follow these simple steps.

It’s such an easy way to make punched paper, don’t you think?

I discovered that using this pattern I could actually hang them easily. I just passed the thread between some of the triangles.

Make many more using different colors, hang them and enjoy!!

Hope you like this easy version of punched paper.
