A Fun Way To Start The Year

Hello 2014

How is 2014 treating you? Here, things are great. I am feeling excited, motivated and at the same time happy that the weekend is not that far away! We have been working on something fun for the last couple of days, I can’t wait to show you about it, but things are taking a little longer than we planned, so you are going to have to wait.

I personally had an amazing Christmas. I went to a Cirque Du Soleil show, then got back home and cooked a bunch of food by myself, without burning anything! Even my sweet poodle had a special dinner that night, one of those fancy dog food cans, she loved it!

So here we are, my first post of 2014. I wanted to do something fun today and my first thought was, what about color planning? thinking about the new colors I would love to try next year and why not, dreaming a bit about the colors I would choose if I owned a house with so many rooms, something you could maybe make happen.

Color Planning Printable

Feel free to do some color planning as well. Is one of your new year’s resolutions wearing more red? or painting the house with a color you love? Well, this may help you.

Thanks for all the support and love that keep Live Colorful growing. I promise that 2014 will be full of surprises and lots and lots of color.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I love dreaming about what I would do in my dream home. Aaahhh…,if only. I would definitely want something with a lot of light for sure. As far as colors for this year, I am really into navy a lot. In fact, I think I am going to make that the signature color for our bedroom as we slowly begin to redo it. Red scares me sometimes. I like it on my lips, but sometimes i think it may make me look unflattering, although I do get compliments every time I wear it.

I’m excited to see what colorful surprises you have for us!

    • I had my navy blue obsession last year, I worked with a client in North Carolina. We went for navy blue for the dining room walls, the lighting fixtures were gold and the trims all white. Loved the effect, I recommend it. I love red as an accent color, I just bought new cushions for the couch on red, they cheer me up.

I can’t wait to decorate my dream home too! Until then, this one will have to do. We have a ton of very bold textiles in the house, bright throws, wall hangings and rugs and the like, so I prefer to keep the furniture and the walls really simple tone colours. I have two hideous brown wardrobes that need to be redone this year so any tips on how to re-paper wardrobes?! They’re compressed wood with stick on cover, almost like wall paper.

    • I’m sure your home is full of beautiful textiles, I’m so jealous. I have never re-paper furniture, but I don’t think it would be that difficult. Look for a neutral colored wallpaper with glue included. Another easy way to cover a surface is using white glue, glue the paper on the furniture and then add an extra layer of the same white glue over the paper to make it resistant, like decoupage. You could even make a collage with pictures or something creative like that. Ohh sounds like a fun project!! I wish I could help 😉

  3. Oh did you see Amaluna? I saw that in the city and it was pretty good. Lovely colorful post!
