DIY: Colorful Magnets for Mother’s Day
One of the things I used to love when I celebrated Mother’s Day back in Mexico, was opening my mom’s old photo albums and looking through our baby pictures. It was sweet to remember all those moments with my mom and celebrate with her.
So this year I wanted to make something with pictures for my home too, to continue in some way with the tradition.
And since sometimes it’s difficult to look at all those special pictures if they are in a photo album or our cell phones, I decided to make these colorful magnets that were so easy and fun to make, and I can put them around the house, on the refrigerator, in the office or anywhere other metallic things I have, like our metal bedside tables. I thought they looked pretty cute there.
- Print a few pictures.
- Measure, mark and cut little basswood squares. Mine are 3” x 3”.
- Paint the basswood squares. I painted them white and added a few colorful strokes.
- Glue the pictures and add a layer or two of Mod Podge.
- Wait until they dry and glue a couple of magnet strips on the back.
These would also be awesome coasters too, like the ones I shared here. To make coasters follow the same steps but skip adding the magnet strips at the end.
If you are a daddy looking for ideas to make with the kids for Mother’s Day, this one is so fun and easy and the kids will have so much fun choosing their favorite colors for mom.
