Decorate your Shorts with Fun Fabric this Summer
The last few days have been really hot and have made me feel like I want to wear shorts all the time!
I have seen some awesome DIYs about how to recycle your old shorts so I decided to make my own version using a piece of colorful fabric. I found this pair of shorts in a second hand store but I didn’t like the bottom, so I cut it and then added that piece of fabric so they don’t look too short.
The fabric covers my legs a bit more and I feel more comfortable wearing them, so this is definitely something you can try if you have a pair of shorts that are just a little too short. Plus this is a great way to add some color to your summer outfits.
- Fabric. I used a piece of 15 inch x 9 inch fabric.
- Pencil or chalk
- Sewing machine. You can sew everything by hand, a sewing machine just saves a little time, but this one is easy enough that it’s not really necessary
1. I marked with chalk the length I wanted my shorts to be since I didn’t like the bottom. I also used a ruler to be more precise and cut it diagonally.
If you already have your shorts at the ideal length, just skip this step.
2. You are going to need to turn the shorts inside out so you can see the pockets and measure the size of the fabric you might need to cover them. 3. Make two little bags using the colorful fabric (image below) and use it to cover the pockets. 4. Sew these bags to the pockets. I know, it sounds confusing but you just need to open the colorful fabric bags and attached them below the pockets that are already on the shorts
