I have moved quite a bit for the last 8 years of my life. From Tabasco, Mexico I moved to Viña del Mar, Chile to study abroad, years later I moved to North Carolina and then California, USA. When I was a kid we moved a lot too, all over the south of Mexico, so I guess that’s why I never thought that moving was bad or scary. Actually I've always felt like it was something that made me stronger and more open to interesting experiences.

One of the things I love about moving to all those places, is being able to find new friends on the way. Making friends can be hard at the beginning, but when you do, it feels good. I know I've found a friend when we can get together for a cafecito and talk about life, family or craft something together.

Sometimes a little handmade and crafty detail when they visit your house can be enough to let them know how much you appreciate their friendship.

Inspired by that idea, I made some glittery flower vases from recycled jars for a new friend that just moved to our apartment complex, we are planning a welcome party and I thought these centerpieces could be the perfect cheerful item to start a conversation and to add some fun to the occasion, plus they are super inexpensive too which adds extra points!

  • Empty recycled jar. It can be any shape or size, just recycle and reuse a jar from a product you love.

  • Glitter. I choose a beautiful turquoise color, but use any color you love or different kinds of color.

  • Mod podge

  • Brush

How to Make a Glitter Flower Vase Centerpiece:

  1. Clean your jar. Remove any residual liquids from inside your jar and make sure to remove the stickers as much as possible too.

  2. Apply mod podge. Cover the glass jar with mod podge all around where you want your glitter. You can use washi tape to create lines and then remove it later, or cover the jar completely with mod podge, be creative and have fun!

  3. Add glitter! Throw glitter all over the bottle until you cover it completely. You might need to let the first later dry and apply mod podge again if you see any weird spots. Use a sponge instead of a brush so you don’t remove the glitter that is already glued in the glass jar and add more glitter.

  4. Wait a few minutes until it dries. When your glittery jar is dry, you can use it as centerpiece in a party or in your kitchen corner. Don’t forget to add your favorite flowers!
