In case you don’t know what it is, papel picado is basically perforated or punched paper sheets cut into beautiful designs and used to decorate Day of the Dead altars. The best part, it’s sooo colorful! I used to make them for the ofrenda with my mom and my sister when I was living in Mexico. Getting together to talk anecdotes about my grandpa while we put together the altar de muertos was one of my favorite traditions.
