Behind a Kids Fashion Line
Getting to know more about what’s behind a product, what inspired and motivated the designer to create it, gives me a unique perspective of how special it is.
That’s why I wanted to share about Jen Lezan’s kids fashion line, Bella + Sophia. I read her story and couldn’t help feeling connected with her mission. As a new mom I understand the energy and power that the love for your kids makes you feel.
Jen is a latina kidswear designer based out of Chicago,IL. She has been working over the last two years developing a kidswear line which started as an small etsy shop and has finally turned into a product line.
Bella + Sophia is a modern line of kids clothing dedicated to high quality, innovative and comfort designs. The brand focuses on sustainable and local sourcing (designed and prototyped in Illinois and produced in Florida USA). The brand is inspired by Jes’s two daughters Bella & Sophia.
Making a difference in the community is something that Jen is really passionate about too. She wants to empower the youth from underserved communities. As a young girl, Jen grew up in trying circumstances with a single mother in Humboldt Park Chicago. She was exposed to domestic violence, drug use and gangs at an early age. Now as a mom she just wants to to do better and make the world better for her two girls. That has given her the strength to continue with her dream and work harder so she can to make it happen.
A portion of her sales goes back to the community through local non-profit organizations catering to the underserved, minority and at risk youth. She works extensively with 360 Youth Services as a charitable partner and as a volunteer.
