Wearing New Colors can Make You feel Confident
Wearing colors we are not familiar with can help you boost that self esteem and affect the way others think about us and also the way we feel about ourselves. So go grab some clothes, shoes or makeup you would normally wouldn’t pick at the store, try it and you’ll see!
It has been a long long time since I shared a “style” post with you guys. If I remember correctly the last one was when I was still pregnant, back in 2014 or something like that. It has been years, literally.
The reason why you haven’t seen many posts like those anymore is because I didn’t feel confident enough with my body. The second my baby was born something changed in me. I felt so overwhelmed that I stopped trying and I did whatever was easiest and most comfortable.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m a person that believes that natural beauty is important and you should feel beautiful no matter what you’re wearing. But after months and months passed by my eyes, I realized that I needed to push myself to try harder and be that person who loves to dress up and look pretty everyday. I realized that part of me was important for my confidence. So I made it a goal for 2016 and here I am sharing this post with you.
And I wanted to talk about how wearing colors we are not familiar with can help you boost that self esteem.
This is something you might notice, clothes and colors we wear affect what other people think about us. Think about a girl entering a room with a fuchsia dress and lipstick. There is something memorable about wearing such energetic color. There is a lot of research about how the colors we choose to wear affect the way others think about us and also the way we feel about ourselves. This article “You are what you wear” actually talks about that and this one shares how makeup can provide a fleeting confidence boost.
Now, If you know me you know that I’m a huge fan of bold – bright colors, and I honestly get stressed when I can’t find fall and winter clothing in those vibrant hues. But this year I was more into wearing whatever fits and I ended up buying lots of earthy colored clothes, especially burgundy blouses which is an unusual color for my closet. That’s when I realized that trying these new colors was actually helping me feel excited about getting ready in the morning because it was something new and I look and feel different.
For a lot of you it might be the opposite. You might love wearing neutrals, but when you are feeling down, something colorful and fun clothing might give you the energy to stand up and go conquer the world. So go grab some clothes, shoes or makeup you would normally wouldn’t pick at the store, try it and you’ll see. Something about a new start and feeling somewhat adventurous just makes you feel differently about how you look.
