How to make a simple but meaningful New Year's wish jar | Live Colorful

I’m one of those people who loves to think about New Year’s resolutions in advance. Unfortunately, I think about them, write them in a pretty notebook, read them a few times during the first month of the new year and then forget about them. Last year I wrote too many on the list, and the whole idea felt overwhelming!

A few months ago, for Father’s Day, Jaxon and I decided to make a wish jar for my husband. We actually named it “building memories” and it was a bunch of legos with all the things Jaxon would love to do with dad during the year. Go camping, watch a boy’s movie together, jumping in mud and things like that were on the list. It was such a simple idea, but a really meaningful gift that my hubby loved.

For this New Year’s Eve I got the idea of making something similar. I made the whole family sit down and think about 12 things that we would love to accomplish, make, visit, create or experience this year. We made a list and put it in the jar. The idea is that every first day of the month we would take one “wish” out of the jar, and do it!

Go to Ojai, California, bring orange slices to a Jaxon’s soccer game, taekwondo tournament, or other sports thing he can do when he turns three!, run a 5k as a family and things like that are on the list. It’s exciting, and I appreciate that they are specific and easy to accomplish “wishes”.

We can’t wait to start picking one each month, because we keep saying that we would love to do these things, but always forget. This is a great way to push ourselves to have fun as a family in a special way each month.

Crafting for the holidays is so much fun, especially when you have supplies that make the process easy!

I’m collaborating with Love+Lemon Craft Co to inspire you to make a sparkly, shiny and festive banner for your New Year’s Eve party.

This garland was the easiest one I have ever made in my life! Seriously, Love+Lemon Craft Co pennant banner pads had everything I needed inside their kit. All I had to do is to detach every paper pad, remove the punched holes and pass the twine through. To write “Happy New Year” I used some sparkly alphabet stickers and I decorated the garland when it was ready with a couple of silver rayon tassels on the sides.

Putting together the garland took me no more than 15 minutes, so I had time to plan another crafty project! When I saw the tassels the first thing I thought was that they would look adorable as earrings. So I got a pair or earrings hooks and attached them to the tassels. This pair ended up looking super cute and extra festive! Perfect to receive the new year with sparkles and style!

A Stocking Stuffer Idea for the Creative People in Your Life

A Stocking Stuffer Idea for the Creative People in Your Life | Live Colorful

I’m lucky to partner with BLOT supplies this holiday season, and inspire you with this fun and colorful stocking stuffer idea that every creative mom, student, kid will love to find on Christmas morning!

We finally moved into our new home and we couldn’t be happier to see the house looking organized and clean.

We opened the last box over thanksgiving weekend, and it was a box full of Christmas decorations. I was so excited about getting the house ready for the holidays, again! since we already had the decorations out in the other house days before we knew that we had to move. It’s funny now, but it was chaotic for a few days. I still can’t believe we decorated two houses in a month!

So the magic happened last Saturday night. I made hot cocoa, and we started to put together the christmas tree and spread around the house some ornaments, lights, ribbons and our cute Christmas stockings.

This is the first time we have a fireplace to hang the stockings. It’s exciting to imagine Jaxon’s face when he discovers that there are presents inside the stockings!

It’s not a secret that I’m a big fan of cute and colorful school supplies, since I love making TO-DO lists everyday and I’m all about being productive and creative. Jaxon loves doodling with that kind of material too! For some reason gel pens and highlighters are way more fun than crayons. That’s probably why I got the idea of asking dad to fill our stocking with pretty coloring pens, highlighters, sticky notes and other cute things from BLOT supplies.

Check out more about BLOT and their products. I’m sure you can find some fun supplies to give as gifts this holiday season!
