Beautiful Animal Art

I have been a renter for almost 8 years! And I have to confess that I kind of like the idea of decorating different homes every two years or so.

This new home that we are renting now is smaller than the last one we were living in, but we love that it is bright and it has big windows and smooth walls and ceilings. The walls are still empty, but I’m excited about filling them with special pieces of art and illustrations from friends from around the world.

My friend Ana Sofia Castañon sent me two of her pieces a few days ago. She told me these illustrations were inspired by her kids, which makes them even more special.

I know the perfect place for her pieces in my home, one is going to be above Jaxon’s dresser and the other one in a small charming nicho that is in this new home’s hall. I can’t wait to see them framed :)

Every year I get excited about summer. My favorite part is being able to enjoy outdoor activities with the family, and also spend more time on our patio, sitting down with fresh squeezed juice while my toddler plays in his mini pool. It’s so peaceful!

When ANNIE SELKE invited me to help spread the word about their new Palm Springs Summer Collection, an exploration of Palm Springs style and happy, bright pops of color, I knew that their products would be the ideal accessories for my home and patio!

I was really happy reading more about the Annie Selke Companies. Their philosophy and goals resonate deeply with me. I appreciate the fact that they are committed to customer satisfaction, employee well-being, and the world, making ethical and socially responsible choices and decisions. Plus the products are beautiful, the perfect timeless lifestyle products that celebrate creativity, color and happiness.

This is how my patio looks this summer, doesn’t it make you smile? I selected a few items from Annie Selke’s Palm Springs Collection for this space. First, a COLORFUL RUG that is fun and functional. It’s now the perfect place to sit and read magazines while my toddler is playing on the patio. I got PILLOWS too, which are now my new obsession, the prints are simple, timeless and the quality of the textiles is truly amazing. I have been wanting to get a STORAGE HAMPER for a long time, this one is perfect to store the outdoor pillows next to the patio door every night. Other things I’m excited to have from Annie Selke’s Palm Springs Catalog are two of their vibrant and ULTRA SOFT TOWELS, the colors are just fantastic!

How to Paint a Fun Chevron Pattern on Your Walls

How to paint a fun chevron pattern on your walls | Live Colorful

I really like the color of my kid’s bedroom. The room was already painted with that hue when we moved in and we decided to keep it that way. It’s an unusual shade for a toddler, but it works great as a neutral canvas for all the colorful toys that are laying around the room.

There is just one problem with this shade of gray-blue, it darkens the space.

So I decided to add a lighter color that will balance the light in the room. At first, I was just going to paint the whole wall in white. But then, I was inspired by the idea of painting some waves, that would look great with the acrylic octopus mobile that my son has above his crib. My son is really into animals, and water, so I knew it was going to be perfect.

Instead of covering the whole wall, I brainstormed and came up with a simple chevron pattern that simulates waves, and looks versatile and modern.

MATERIALS:

  • 1 gallon of Emerald Interior Acrylic Latex Paint. Sheen: Matte. Color: Snowbound SW 7004
  • ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape Delicate Surfaces with Advanced Edge-Lock
  • 1 Purdy® White Dove™ Roller Cover 9″
  • KWIK-Release™ 9″ Roller Frame
  • 1 Mil 9′ x 12′ Plastic Drop Cloth

STEPS:

  1. Start by measuring the wall and planning the pattern so everything looks geometrical.
  2. Measure, mark and use the painter’s tape to trace the pattern.
  3. Apply the paint.
  4. Wait few minutes after you finish painting and remove the tape. Do it carefully to avoid pulling up any paint.

The wall looks great, and the white pattern actually lightens up the room. I also moved things around in the bedroom, so everything looks new and fresh! How to paint a fun chevron pattern on your walls | Live Colorful
