What are the Neutral Colors?

Get inspired with these neutral color ideas for your home decor

A lot of people had ask me in the past about what colors do I consider neutral, especially if we were talking about DIY projects for the house or if we are picking paint colors for a space at home, so I wanted to talk a bit about my opinion and hopefully give you some ideas for your next project.

I had created many color palettes for home decor projects and that had give the experience to always think about a base color for the walls, a neutral one that will work as a great canvas and let any complementary color or a group of colors stand out and shine. So for me, basically, a great neutral color is anyone that do not compete with anything in a space.

Most people just imagine walls in white or beige when they want something neutral, but they forget that black, brown and even navy blue can work as amazing neutral colors as well.

I know, It can be hard to look at navy blue as a neutral, but the way I see it is that when I think about jeans and how they can match with everything. I’m talking about that denim tone of blue that would look awesome with a yellow blouse, or in a home decor scenario, a yellow sofa.

With a neutral colored wall in a home for example, the opportunities for accessories and furniture are endless. The great thing about picking a neutral color for walls in a home, is that the accents can change with the seasons without problem. You could accessorize your living room during summer using blue pillows and then on fall changing all the pillow cover for ones in yellow and orange tones.
