How to Create a Sleep Routine for your Baby that Works | LiveColorful.comThis is a compensated campaign in collaboration with JOHNSON’S® and Latina Bloggers Connect. All opinions, images, and ideas are my own. Thanks for supporting the sponsors!Just a week ago, my 13-month-old woke up in the middle of the night and didn’t want to go back to bed. It took us more than 3 hours to put him back to sleep. It was one of those rough nights that every parent is scared about. Tiring, stressing and frustrating.Just days after, I received an invitation to participate in the JOHNSON’S® Tonight We Sleep™, 7-day Challenge. I accepted a bit excited and a bit skeptic. I wanted to believe that if I tried some things differently, our sleep would improve. So I followed all the steps and incorporated some of their tips in our daily routine. We downloaded the JOHNSON’S® BEDTIME® Baby Sleep App on our phones and followed the steps. We decided an hour to start with the sleep routine. Then push ourselves to make our baby take a bath every day and continue with a relaxing massage while we play the Tonight We Sleep™ Lullaby, then we started quiet time, then we read a book together and hold him until he goes to sleep. How to Create a Sleep Routine for your Baby that Works | LiveColorful.comThis new routine took us more time than the one we used to follow, but we decided that the time was totally worth it since we started to see his improvement and how much he enjoyed the bath and massage every day. He seemed happier and both us and him, were more relaxed. We also realized that he stays asleep longer for laps. He went from waking up 3 - 4 a night, to one and sometimes none! which made us feel AMAZING! I’ll share with you some of the things we tried and that can inspire you to incorporate it into your family routine.

A Baby Sleep Routine Step by Step:

  1. Schedule a time to put your baby to bed and be consistent. It’s really important that you decide for a specific time to start the routine every day that works for you and your baby and stays consistent. That will help your baby feel prepared and know exactly when it’s time to relax and go to bed.
  2. The miracle of a warm bath every day. This is something my mom used to say, that if I want to put my baby to sleep faster, I need to make him take a bath every night. I honestly knew that it was somewhat true, but I didn’t make it part of the routine since I felt like it was a lot of work. Then I started the challenge and I realized that the warm bath is something my baby loves, it’s fun and at the same time makes him feel relax and fresh and it improves the baby’s sleep laps.
  3. Massage and bonding time. This is something the JOHNSON’S® 3-step routine suggested as part of the routine and we really loved. Something as simple as massaging your baby’s body just a little bit and using pleasant scents can help baby sleep better.  Imagine how relaxed you feel after a massage. At the same time, this step will be a special connection with your baby and make them feel relax, spoiled and ready to sleep.
  4. Lullabies. Something relaxing and calm would transmit the same effect in your baby. I was really happy to find theTonight We Sleep™ Lullaby option on the app. Johnson’s baby made it’s research and surveyed moms and experts to curate this global amazing selection of noises and notes that comfort little ones.
  5. Read. The moments before bedtime are an opportunity to help baby wind down through quiet time with activities such as reading, singing or just listening music.
  6. Now, it’s bedtime. Sit on with your baby and swing with him or walk with him in your arms until he goes to sleep by himself.
