Why I’m Loving the Sustainable Clothing Movement
This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with prAna and #WeAllGrowLatina Network. All pictures and opinions are my own. Thanks for supporting the sponsors that allow me to create new and special content like this for Live Colorful. As a creative soul, I have a natural instinct to want to discover how things are made. Not long ago curiosity pushed me to learn how to sew my own clothes, and what I discovered changed the way I shop for garments entirely. Sewing clothes is extremely hard and time-consuming. The whole process made me realized how little I appreciated the pieces of clothing that I was buying from the stores. At that moment I knew that for the future I wanted to become a more conscious buyer. I was craving to get to know more about brands that were making an effort to act responsibly and that care about the process and the people involved in it.That’s how I found prAna. I already had a few prAna pieces in my closet, but I didn’t know much about the company. Reading through their page and social media posts I discovered how prAna is always in search of sustainable raw materials for their products, such as organic cotton, recycled wool, hemp, recycled polyester, and manufacturing practices, they are really passionate about partnering with companies and factories that have strict guidelines for safety and efficacy. But in the end, I love that they still care about the aesthetics, creating beautiful, functional, and versatile products.I love going to the gym and I’m a passionate traveler and hiker, but my love for prAna is mostly because I’m a mom.Sometimes being a mom feels like a hardcore workout. I need to crouch down, balance, run, dodge stuff, all while I’m lifting a toddler with one hand. prAna pieces are by far, the most comfortable ones that I have tried since my toddler was born, and I love wearing them every day because I feel pretty and comfortable. They go with me grocery shopping, yoga class, my toddler’s tumbling class, and a walk near the San Francisco Bay to enjoy a beautiful sunset with my boys, and I always feel appropriate and confident. After my experience making my own clothes, I started to value every piece of clothing I own. Now I think about them as a reflection of who I am, my values and interests. I wanted them to be durable and versatile, to avoid the need of getting too many useless pieces, but instead investing in great quality and companies that care about their impact on the world. You can check out prAna collections here, they are perfect for traveling, exercising, swimming and of course, running behind your toddler.
