Creative Renters Ideas for Kid's Rooms
Here are some ideas for kids' rooms that are ideal for renters.
Today is a perfect day for daydreaming, so I'm taking the opportunity to share my plans and dreams for my baby's nursery. Over the holiday break, we purchased all the necessary furniture—a crib, dresser, and a versatile piece that serves as a changing table. We also added a sofa bed in the room because well, we live in a 950 square foot apartment with only two rooms, so the nursery is going to have to work as a guest room as well.
The changing table piece from Ikea is particularly functional; it accommodates all the diapers, wipes, and cleaning supplies neatly in its drawers. To ensure it was the right height, we measured a changing table in-store and added extra legs. I think it is going to work great and when the baby grows, we can use it as storage for toys and other things in his room.
While the nursery is functional, it doesn't yet reflect my dream vision. To infuse it with color and charm, I've been scouring the web for inspiration and DIY projects like these . I've found some great solutions that not only add color and personality to the room but are also low maintenance and renter-friendly.
Here are some renter-friendly ideas for kids' rooms that I've found:
Removable Wall Decals:
Choose colorful and playful wall decals featuring favorite characters, animals, or geometric patterns. They can easily be applied and removed without damaging the walls.
2. Temporary Wallpaper
Opt for peel-and-stick wallpaper in vibrant colors or fun designs. It can be applied like a sticker and peeled off when you move out, leaving no residue.
3. Fabric Wall Hangings
Use fabric panels or tapestries to cover portions of the walls. They can add texture and color, and are easily hung with removable adhesive hooks.
4. Colorful Furniture and Accessories
Choose brightly colored furniture pieces like beds, dressers, and chairs to add pops of color to the room. Use colorful bedding, pillows, rugs, and curtains to further enhance the theme.
5. Artwork and Posters
Hang framed artwork, posters, or prints that reflect your child's interests and personality. These can easily be changed or updated as their tastes evolve.
6. DIY Projects
Get creative with DIY projects such as creating a gallery wall with frames or displaying your child's artwork in a unique way. These personalized touches can make the room feel special and unique.
7. Functional Storage
Use colorful storage bins, baskets, and shelves to organize toys and books. These not only add color but also serve a practical purpose in keeping the room tidy.
8. Mobiles and Hanging Decor
Hang mobiles, paper lanterns, or other hanging decor items from the ceiling. They add visual interest and can be easily removed when needed.
9. Lighting
Choose colorful or whimsical light fixtures, lamps, or string lights to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere in the room.
These ideas allow you to transform a rented space into a cheerful and personalized environment for your child, while also being easy to update or remove when it's time to move.
