How to Spray Paint Plastic Animals

Plus 10 Awesome projects to make with cute plastic animals

I have seen beautiful projects with metallic animals in the stores and other peoples blogs. They look so adorable and stylish. You can definitely make them yourself using regular plastic animals and spray paint because they are often hard to find in the stores. It's easy peasy, I promise.

MATERIALS:

  • Metallic spray paint. I still have some of these animals since I wrote this post (almost 8 years later) and they still look fantastic, my kids play with them and the paint is almost intact, so I definitely recommend this brand!

  • Cheap plastic little animals similar to theses ones

  • A piece of plastic or cardboard

How to Spray Paint Plastic Animals:

  1. Protect your workspace. Read the instruction on your spray paint before you get started and protect your workspace using a piece of plastic or a cardboard below.

  2. Spray paint the animals. Lay all the animals down in one side and apply the spray paint. Wait for a couple of minutes until the spray paint dries.

  3. Flip them them over, spray and wait again.

  4. Next step is to stand them up and try to cover all those spaces that you couldn't get before.

They are going to be a bit sticky after applying the spray paint, that's why I recommend not to touching them and letting them dry after each layer for a half an hour at least.
