DIY: How to Make a Headband in 6 Easy Steps
Have you ever wondered how to make a simple fabric headband? Check out this easy DIY tutorial.
The other day I was walking through my local fabric store where I found this beautiful colorful fabric and I couldn't stop thinking about what to make with it. And because simple sewing projects are my favorite, I thought that this print would look super cute as a headband.
I love how it turned out and it was so easy!

Cotton fabric. You are going to need a rectangle of fabric that is 44 x 8 inches of fabric. I actually bought 1/2 yard of fabric and I use the leftovers for other creative projects. Look at this cute fabric I found here.
Sewing scissors
Sewing machine or just thread and needle. Check out this sewing kit that is perfect for small projects like this.
STEPS:
Cut your fabric. Cut a strip of fabric that is about 44 inches long x 8 inches wide.
Fold the fabric. Fold the short side of the fabric leaving the “ugly” or back part of the fabric on the outside and sew that edge.
Cut the corners at an angle. Because it is a headband, it is kind of nice to cut the corners of the headband in an angle. It will look pretty.
Sew both sides of the headband. Close both sides of the headband leaving a space open (approximately 2 inches) in one side of the headband. That opening is where you are going to turn the fabric inside out.
Turn the fabric inside out. Turn the fabric inside out so the pretty part, or the front of the fabric, is outside.
Close your headband. Sew the small space in the corner that is still open using thread and a needle and a simple invisible stitch or hidden stitch.
