MATERIALS:
Lollipops, the regular size from any store near you
Black ink marker
Colorful markers in different bright colors
Ribbon or yarn
How to Decorate Lollipops Like Calaveritas:
1. Wrap the Lollipop:
Start by covering your lollipop with one or two coffee filters. Make sure the filter is centered and fully covers the lollipop, creating a nice, smooth base for your calaverita.
2. Secure the Filter:
Use a small elastic band to hold the coffee filter in place. This helps keep the filter snug and prevents it from slipping. Alternatively, you can use a piece of ribbon to wrap around the base of the lollipop.
3. Sketch the Face:
Lightly sketch a sugar skull or calaverita face on the surface of the coffee filter with a pencil. This will give you a guide for your design and will allow for any adjustments before using permanent markers.
4. Outline the Design:
Once you’re happy with your pencil sketch, carefully trace over it with a black ink marker. This will create a bold, defined outline of your calaverita face.
5. Add Colorful Details:
Use colorful markers, pens, or pencils to bring your calaverita to life. Decorate around the face with vibrant designs such as hearts, flowers, swirls, and dots. Feel free to be creative and add any fun details you like!
6. Finish with a Ribbon:
To complete your decorated lollipop, tie a ribbon around the top of the coffee filter, just below the lollipop stick. This not only secures the filter but also adds a festive touch. You can also use a colorful yarn or string for a playful look.
