Discover the latest fashion fall trends with Macy's Fashion Front Row events | Live Colorful

One of the nicest things about living in California, is the weather. It’s never too cold, and almost never too hot. That gives me the opportunity to play with a lot of layers all year round, especially during fall.

Besides being able to use boots and jackets free of guilt, I love the smells and colors that nature inspires during this season. It’s something warm, cozy but really stylish.

I’m excited to find out more about the newest fall fashion trends this year. Macy’s is hosting this amazing Fashion Front Row shopping party with music, fun and the latest looks from our favorite designers. There will be events all over the country!

I’ll be at Macy’s Valley Fair (Santa Clara, CA) this Saturday September 17th at 2:00 pm, to enjoy the shopping party and catch a fashion presentation hosted by the founder of Girl With Cures, Tanesha Awasthi, and style expert Caroline Rooney. I read that there is going to be a DIY necklace station! If you live near by, come and say hello 🙂 I’ll be sharing more about it through Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

I can’t wait to find out more about the trends related to colors and prints for this season. I keep wanting to add fresh earthy colored pieces to my wardrobe.

RSVP to your local Macy’s store to enjoy the shopping party. Find a party near you here. The events are free!

Meet Sherwin-Williams Color of the Year 2017

Sherwin-Williams Color of the Year 2017: Poised Taupe (SW 6039). Es clásico y moderno a la vez, el balance perfecto entre cálido y frío.

When I moved to Asheville, North Carolina, I felt captivated by the warm tones that covered the streets of the city during fall.

I arrived with the idea of painting our new apartment in a cool gray tone, but the warmth of the place made me decide for a cozy brown named Mocha (SW 6067).

I painted just a few walls with Mocha (SW 6067), and that was enough to create an intimate and comfy space that we loved for years. However, I dreamt constantly about cool gray walls, something about it made me think of modern and stylish spaces, and I wanted that feeling in my apartment too.

Last week, Sherwin-Williams announced Poised Taupe (SW 6039), as the 2017 Color of the Year. This modern take on a timeless classic is that color I dreamt about 6 years ago, when I moved to Asheville, North Carolina! A beautiful neutral that brings warm and cool tones together to create one irresistibly versatile color.

“Poised Taupe celebrates everything people love about cool gray as a neutral, and also brings in the warmth of brown, taking the color to an entirely new level. Not cool or warm, or gray or brown, Poised Taupe is a weathered, woodsy neutral bringing a sense of coziness and harmony that people are seeking,” says Sue Wadden, director of color marketing for Sherwin-Williams.

A Sherwin-Williams team traveled the world to identify the latest color. From there, they discovered that the neutrals are in a transition from monochrome gray of the past five years to a more complex brown.

The current trends related to natural, organic influences and earthy tones also inspired the selection of this color as a winner for this upcoming year. “Consumers crave spaces where they feel welcome and welcome to get in. The brown earth combined with a conservative gray, creating Poised Taupe, embodies all these emotions,” said Wadden.

TIP: You can incorporate interesting details around your home in bright colors, like the orange bowls and fresh flowers in the image above, so your space always looks fresh and happy.

COLOR PALETTE INSPIRATION:

You can pair Poised Taupe with many rich colors. Some favorites are Stardew (SW 9138), a vibrant Rave Red (SW 6608), a deep teal like Marea Baja (SW 9185) or a sunny hued Bee (SW 6683).

How to Transform a Dining Room with Bright Paint Color

Posted by

You will be surprised to see how a bright color can transform a boring dining room area into a happy and cheerful space.

My dining room area needed a punch of color and freshness and I wanted to make it happen by painting the wall behind my dining room table in a happy and energetic color.

I have always felt like yellow makes me smile. It reminds me of summer, the neighborhood I grew up in back in Mexico and all the lemon trees that you could see around.

So I ran to my local Sherwin William store to look for the perfect yellow for my dining room area. I loved how easy it was to find it in the new ColorSnap® displays.

They have created a new, comprehensive and integrated system that could save up to 60% of time while picking and exploring colors. One of the main improvements of the system is that now it’s possible to explore groups of color by family, like red, yellow or blue, and by saturation level, from bright to neutral with a new exclusive category for whites.

Knowing that I wanted a yellow tone, I just ran to this panel and I started scanning for my favorites. Another thing I really liked was being able to take the paint samples home which are now bigger than they used to be, 2 x 3 inches, and replaced the longer strips that sometimes made you feel confused since you needed to look at different options at the same time.

I went back home and taped three different paint samples I brought home to the wall and I looked at them from far away. That’s how I decided for the beautiful Lemon Twist (SW 6909)!

MATERIALS:

  • 1 gallon of Harmony® Interior Acrylic Latex Paint. Sheen: Semi-Gloss. Color: SW 6909 Lemon Twist.
  • 1 Purdy® White Dove™ Roller Cover
  • KWIK-Release™ 9″ Roller Frame
  • 1 Mil 9′ x 12′ Plastic Drop Cloth
  • 1 ½” Sherwin Williams Contractor Series® Extra Firm Angle Sash Brush
  • Multi surface Scotch tape
  • 1 Purdy® Clearcut® Swan (3″)

STEPS:

  1. Put the painter’s masking tape around windows, ceiling and anything else you don’t want to paint to protect them.
  2. Start by outlining the whole wall. For corners and other small details, you can use small brushes. I like flat brushes, like the Purdy Clearcut Swan (3″) to outline the ceiling. I like to use an angle brush for corners and small details.
  3. Apply the paint to the whole wall. You might need to add two layers of paint to get a uniform color on the whole wall.
  4. Wait until the walls are dry and remove the painter’s masking tape.
