Here are some of the amazing things that happened at We All Grow Summit 2016 | LiveColorful.com

We had the fortune to travel to Long Beach, California for #WeAllGrow Summit 2016. It was an amazing experience. We didn’t just learn a lot about blogging, social media, community building and more, we also got to meet inspiring latina women from around the world with whom we shared experiences, tips, and created connections of support and empowerment.

We came back home full of ideas and plans. It took us a few weeks to get back to our routine but we are finally feeling motivated and ready for some adventures.

One of the recent changes we have made on the blog after the conference was to change Live Colorful’s profile picture. Now we have one with both of us as Live Colorful content creators. It was something I decided at the conference. I was craving support and someone with whom to share dreams and goals, and I couldn’t think of anyone better than my sister. Lali is an amazing fashion designer, an adventurer DIYer, and a really cool illustrator. We want to bring together all the things she knows with the things I know, into a better, more colorful and fun brand. It’ll be great, we promise you.

Live Colorful is all about creativity and color! Do it yourself, crafts, home decor, familia and all the things that inspire a colorful lifestyle. Gracias por visitar!

Other new is that we want to push ourselves to create better videos on Live Colorful YouTube channel. We want to share DIY projects that are simple, fun, and colorful, and that you can see and understand no matter what language you speak.

We honestly wanted to separate the channels and create two, one for English DIYs and one for Spanish DIYs, but we opted for mixing them because we really want to keep things simple and memorable. It made more sense to us to have just one YouTube channel and make fun videos that everyone in the world can enjoy.

So back to We All Grow Summit, this is one of the things I love the most about it and I really wanted to share it with you. The HOLA! USA sponsored interactive art installation by Carolina Rubio MacWright, an artist from Bogotá, Colombia, where attendees were prompted to breathe their intentions into origami lanterns that later shone with our hopes and dreams. It was so beautiful.

Also, I got to meet some latino artist, designers, and small business owners at the mercadito at the conference. I got so many things from there. Some books from Lil’LIBROS, a handmade bag from Limonada, and some fun t-shirts for my husband and my baby boy from Chaca Chaka. (Check out the video below para chismosear)

One of my fav moments at #WeAllGrow. Getting to know more about these talented hermanitas, Dariela y Dariana de DariDesignStudio.com.

Don’t miss our video recap to see part of our adventures and the things we saw! We were so lucky to be able to attend. The sponsors were so welcoming and the suites were beautifully crafted, we didn’t want to leave. It was a gorgeous conference and we came home feeling so inspired.

The most beautiful part about the conference is probably the message behind it, If one grows, we all grow… I really don’t need to explain more.

I Blog Because... BlogHer 2014

*Image via. I am BlogHer

The warm smell of freshly brewed green tea always makes me want to write. It’s 8:00 am, it’s been two days since the end of my adventure at BlogHer 2014. I remember the day I found out the conference was coming back to San Jose after 10 years, I was excited because it was only 20 minutes away from where I live. At the same time, memories of my early days as a blogger started coming to my mind, my inspiration, my first friends online, my dreams and illusions that even though they were small, they made me get up in the morning wanting to create and share.

The conference was just as I imagined. Interesting talks, warm hugs, new friends, long talks with old friends, smiles, tears, stress and a couple of sore spots on my feet thanks to some uncomfortable shoes I decided to wear the first day of the conference.

Day one began with a video showing why we started our adventure as bloggers. I was fortunate to be included in the video and share my, “I blog because… it pushes me to be creative…”.

The story of my blog might not be very different from others. I started sharing projects because I was looking for something different and exciting. Moving from Mexico to the United States, brought to my life a feeling of emptiness that was really hard in the beginning. Sewing, painting and decorating our new small apartment made me feel happy and full of energy, it made me think about the future in that little new place with my husband and my little poodle.

I guess back then I didn’t think about it, but starting my blog was like doodling a new chapter in my life. It was the first line in that notebook of white pages, that back then, was a bit empty and lonely.

My blog has brought me some amazing adventures and has pushed me to do things I have never imagined I would do, but more importantly, it really inspires me to create and share every day! It pushes me to find happiness in the simplest and smallest projects each day, to put aside my shyness and push myself to meet new people at conferences and interesting events, to forget about my obsession with organization and throw plastic bags on the floor and paint with my hands, to correct my english grammar and pronunciation to express what I am really feeling, to wear cute outfits even on those days I feel sad and ugly, to find new uses for those bits of fabric scraps, to always learn something new, grow as a person, help, share and never stop imagining, dreaming and creating. It pushes me to be what I always dreamt I would love to be.

Blogger friend, have you ever thought about why you blog? What inspires you?

What makes you smile? via Live Colorful

Summer has brought sunny days to California, and many many festivals and outdoor activities, not to mention that the World Cup kept me entertained these past few afternoons and weekends. Finally this past Sunday I felt like I could take a break from the stress haha, but it was a good final match, right?

I don’t know if you have heard of Shugar Love’s project called “All You Need is Love Project”. My friend Carmen started this movement to create and share inspirational stories of love on this planet. You can check out more about the project and join the revolution here.

All You Need is Love Project

The discussion this week was something fun and sweet. What makes you smile? I thought it would be fun to share some of the things that have made me happy lately and why not, give you the chance to share with us what makes you happy too.

What makes me smile?

  • Looking out the windows in the morning
  • The curly tail of my poodle that reminds me of a pig tail
  • “Knocked Up” I love that movie!
  • Afternoons at the park, drawing and listening to music
  • Crafts and all kinds of colorful and creative projects
  • Early walks through my neighborhood, I always find something cute or funny on my way
  • Video chats with my family in Mexico. For some reason, my mom never finds the camera and we always end up just talking without video, but it’s still awesome
  • Facebook …. on Sunday morning
  • Chamoy candy, yummy!
  • Painting my nails at night while watching tv and drinking chamomile tea
