Interior Designer-in-a-Box and Right to Your Doorsteps

These gorgeous spaces and inspiration from SwiftDecor.com | Live Colorful

Some of you might know already that I went to school for Interior Design. I had always been obsessed with home accessories, paint colors, wall finishes, wall patterns, textures and all those beautiful elements that create a perfect space.

So when I received Carolina and Martha’s email from swiftdecor.com, I was intrigued. I really needed to know more about this interior design-in-a-box service and I really wanted to see what they had to offer.

Martha and Carolina are two sisters living in South Florida. Their business idea sparked after Carolina started decorating her home. She had zero artistic ability, a busy career in Finance, in the midst of finishing her MBA and a new baby at home. One day she came home frustrated after a trip to different home decor shops. She showed her sister what she had bought and as a good designer, Martha told her that the things she bought didn’t match at all. She felt overwhelmed. That night Carolina started looking for home decor sets online. She wanted to find quality sets that include everything she needed, curtains, curtain rods, throw blanket, pillows, wall art, table accents, etc. She couldn’t find anything. So they decided to join forces and with Carolina’s business knowledge and Martha’s understanding of the interior design industry started Swift Décor.

I have to say that I really like their curated collections, they look really cohesive and have their own vibe and feeling. My favorite decor set is the bold collection, and that’s because, well, I can’t say no to bold colors!

They will be launching new collections this summer in collaboration with other designers and online curators so stay tuned.

As a surprise for all of you, Swift Décor. is offering a special $50 OFF coupon using the code: LIVECOLORFUL. So now you know, decorating can be easier than this! And prettier as well.

How to Display Colorful Items Inside of an Armoire

Not being able to paint your walls shouldn’t restrict you from creating a personalized and colorful space. Check out 3 ways to create an interesting effect in your space displaying knick knacks inside shelves, cabinets and armoires.

I have been a renter for the last couple of years. In our last two apartments I couldn’t paint the walls. That was really frustrating for someone like me that craves color so much.

The inability to personalize my space pushed me to look for creative ideas to display color around the house. I used textiles to cover the sofas, bought lots pillows, added removable vinyls and displayed knick knacks on top of a credenza I had behind the dining room table and inside the kitchen cabinets.

One piece of furniture that I have always wanted to have in my home, is an armoire. Armoires are basically a wardrobe or movable cabinet, typically ornate or antique. They are a beautiful and unique piece of furniture that tends to catch the attention because they look so interesting and powerful. Armoires were made to store clothes in the bedroom, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use them somewhere else. They work great as kitchen cabinets or storage in the living room.

Chairish shared with me their amazing vintage furniture collection, and I couldn’t love the armoires more. I picked some of my favorites to share with you and how you can creatively display color in your home using a similar piece of furniture. It’s such a simple technique with a happy effect.

1. Get color inspired.

You need to start by looking around your home and checking out what colors are predominant in your space. Let’s say that you bought some beautiful navy blue pillows. Inspired by that, pick decorative elements to display inside your armoire. You don’t need to match everything with your color inspiration. The elements can have one, two and even more colors in it, just make sure your color inspiration is one of those accent colors.

2. Create a gradient effect.

Similar to the option #1, pick one color you love. To display the knick knacks, go from the darkest shade to the lightest or vice versa. You can do it layer by layer, from the top to the bottom. Another interesting way to use the gradient effect is adding small elements in a gradient order in the same line.

3. Rainbow power.

For color lovers the most fun way to display color is by adding lots of color. The best part is that you don’t need to be careful with the colors in the elements you pick to display, just try to maintain the style (modern, rustic, vintage) so everything looks somewhat coordinated.

These tricks are so simple and easy, a great options for renters or people that want that burst of color without the trouble of painting a whole wall.

Colorful and Chic Acrylic Chandeliers

I love this turquoise octopus chandelier. It looks so pretty!

Nicole Ketchum designs these cool and fun acrylic chandeliers. The first one that caught my attention was the yellow octopus. I saw it in one of her instagram pictures and I just felt the need to get it for Jax’s bedroom. The picture with the sparkling eyeglasses was really charming, and I got hooked on the color.

Her fancy chandeliers are also great, really chic. They would look amazing in a home, but I love the neat ways they have been used in a weddings, birthdays and other event decorations.

The inspiration behind Chandelier by NK came from Nicole’s own desire for chic, modern decor. She wanted a fun chandelier without lights that she could hang for the holidays and didn’t find it anywhere, so she decided to create her own.

Working with acrylic allows her to have fun with the designs and colors, like the amazing Hot Pink chandelier which is her favorite right now. It’s so vivid.

She gets inspiration from everywhere: home decor stores, magazines, Pinterest, nature. She thinks her mind is still trapped in the tween and teen years, so she designs from that angle on what she would want to see or thinks is fun. Which I honestly totally get it. I think that might be the reason why I love her work so much. I was as obsessed with shiny, bright, colorful things when I was a tween as I am right now.

She is already planning her next design, which will be a hanging heart with crystals (how cute!) maybe pale pink, gold and with glitter acrylics. I really can’t wait to see more of her work!
