I wanted to pour paint terra-cotta pots since I saw this pin the other day. I finally got to do it and it was so much fun!
I painted a base color on all pots, and then I poured a hot pink paint layer on the top. The paint dripped and got everywhere making fun looking shapes. I really love the contrast between colors, so if you decide to try this for your garden, you should totally use contrasting colors so the layer on the top stands out.
One tip is to use a big plastic bag or lots of paper below the pots. When the paint drips it gets everywhere. It’s also good to add rocks or something to avoid the plastic or paper from flying around. If that happens (I know because it happened to me) it will make a mess so you will probably need to add more color on top.
It’s so easy and you and your kids will have so much fun!
Plastic bag or newspaper
Paint a base color and wait until it dries
Drip another color on the top
Wait for a few hours or until it dries.
When they are dry add your favorite flowers or plants and your new awesome planters will be ready to say hello to summer!
I spent the weekend getting the balcony ready for summer. As I told you in my other post here, my balcony was a complete disaster. After we moved to this new apartment, we totally forgot about it, it was winter and just a few weeks before Jax was born.
Things are better now and we are so ready to enjoy the outdoors since the days are starting to feel warmer and nice. We also discovered that Jax loves being outside, so the balcony will be a place where we will spend a lot of time in the few next months. We are so excited to be able to enjoy it and I can’t wait to drink my coffee and read during the mornings outside.
I bought a palm plant and a few hostas that I planted in terra cotta planters. I painted the terra cotta planters last Friday, it was so much fun! The colors on the pots adds a fun twist to the decor and the plants make the balcony look happy and alive.
When I planted the hostas, I used some of the amazing products from SCOTTS MIRACLE-GRO and ORTHO & Round-Up. I have always gotten them at my local Walmart. In another article, here, I wrote about one of my favorite products being the Miracle-Gro Potting Mix and I used it to fill the planters. I fill half of the planters with the potting mix, then I add the hostas and add an extra layer of the mix on the top and around the edges to make sure the plants are in place and everything is covered. Miracle-Gro Potting Mix is easy to use and I’m so excited to see my plants grow healthily because I have had a great experience with this product in other gardens. I remember how gorgeous my mums flowers were back in North Carolina, they were so colorful and big!
With the plants and a few simple accessories like cushions, candles and adding some color to the planters, I created a balcony I really love that makes me feel happy and excited about summer!
