Easy Heart Wreath for Front Door
Get your home ready for Valentine’s Day with this colorful and easy to make heart wreath.
As soon as I removed the Christmas decorations I started to feel ready to refresh the house with a new theme! and since Valentine’s Day is just a couple of weeks away, I decided to make something inspired by this sweet and lovely celebration.
For this project I really wanted to upcycle or recycle material from around the house, and while looking around I found some beautiful wool pom poms that I bought for a Christmas craft idea years ago and didn’t use. They were in a basket just waiting for a new project :) I also found the awesome heart shaped metallic wreath I used online here and it was the perfect size for my front door.
The project turned out super cute and incredibly easy to make, I hope you like it and you create a heart wreath just like mine this year.
TIP SAVE MONEY:
After I finished, I realized that you can create the heart shape using cardboard instead of buying the heart shaped metal wreath and then follow the same steps. Just cover the cardboard with felt and glue the pom poms on top. I’m sure the cardboard will stay sturdy with all the layers of felt and it will still looks amazing in your front door. You can also make a bigger heart!
MATERIAL:
Heart shaped metal wreaths. 14 inches size.
Wool felt pom poms 2cm size. I used 75 pieces. So maybe you need a package with100 pieces to make sure you have enough.
Felt sheets. Try to get the soft ones so they can fold easily.
Hot glue gun

Cover your heart metal wreath with felt
Start by cutting the felt sheets in stripes that are about 3 inches wide. The length of these stripes doesn’t matter much because you are going to need to cut them in different sizes to be able to cover the whole heart wreath anyway.
Use hot glue and attach the stripes of felt sheets around the heart metal wreath structure and cover it completely.
The felt around the metallic wreath will help to cover the metal underneath and the empty spaces. The texture of the felt is so similar to the felt wool pompoms and that will help hide imperfections.
Add the pompoms!
Use hot glue again and start adding the felt wool pompoms around the heart shape. Glue the first row near the edge so you have space to create two rows with pompoms.
I used approximately 75 pompoms for my heart wreath, so try to get a package with 100 at least so you can pick the colors you want and have enough for the whole project.
Add a ribbon to be able to hang your wreath
Fold a pretty ribbon and glue it behind your heart wreath to be able to hang it in your front door or your walls. I used a small piece of felt sheet and glued it on top of the ribbon to secure it in place. You could also sew the ribbon with some stitches to make sure it doesn't move.
Clean the pompoms from any excess of hot glue before hanging your heart wreath in your front door or walls.
I received so many complements already, and I love how cheerful and colorful looks, but you can totally use just one color for the whole heart or a combination of two or three colors.
