How to Make a Rainbow Bookmark

Check out this simple way of making a rainbow bookmark for your favorite books and stories.

This idea came to mind yesterday morning while I was folding pages of the book I'm reading, which is not my favorite thing, and I felt inspired to create my own bookmark using paper and scissors and avoid ruining the pages of the book more.

When I was thinking about what to create I was looking for an easy shape that it was easy to cut, and for some reason rainbows came to mind!

The trick was to figure out a simple way to create the rainbow shape. I ended up creating a full circle so half of the circle stays outside and half of the circle pops out creating a rainbow.

I printed my own rainbow and made a printable to share with you that is no longer available in the site but you still can print the image below in a high resolution.

If you don’t want to print the image, re create the idea drawing a circle and coloring it with markers or cutting different circles out of card stock in different sizes and glue each circle on top of other to recreate the image below.

MATERIALS:

  • Paper sheets. I use medium thick paper sheets to make a stronger bookmark.

  • Circular template like a coffee mug

  • Scissors

  • Glue

How to Make a Rainbow Bookmark:

  1. Create the colorful circle. You can download the printable with the image above. If you don’t want to use the printable, you can recreate the idea drawing a circle and coloring it like a rainbow with markers. Another way to make this rainbow bookmark is by cutting different circles out of cardstock in different sizes and glue each circle on top of other to recreate the rainbow that you see in the pictures below.

  2. Cut the circles and glue them together. If you use the printable, cut two circles to glue them together so the back is not just empty.

Now you can open and close your book and you’ll see an adorable and colorful rainbow that pops out. This will brighten your day, I promise :)
