How to Make your Own Ugly Sweater

How to Make your Own Ugly Sweater

I’m going to an ugly sweater party next Friday. I ran to the store today to look for an ugly sweater to rock this weekend but couldn't find anything, isn't that crazy? There has to be an ugly sweater somewhere! Well, at least that’s what I thought. Maybe looking in the wrong stores? Possibly.

Well, anyways, I decided to make my own version using stuff I already had at home and a couple of things I found in Goodwill.

I bought a red sweater, two rolls of curling ribbon and a cute gold bow. It was about $5 for everything.

At first I had no idea what to do with those things, it made no sense. I thought about just adding the curling ribbon on the neck or something like that but didn’t know how or where to start. Finally after an hour of making a mess, I started making a Christmas tree using some white yarn I had at home. I drew a triangle and sewed some lines.

After that I started tying the curling ribbon in the yarn and filling spaces. Thats when it started to make sense or at least it started to look like something I shouldn't wear on a normal day.

Oh, and I also found two white ornaments that I am planning on using as earrings. And I added a couple of snowman ornaments from last year’s Christmas tree with some pins.

If you are planning on making your own ugly sweater just add, add and add holiday ornaments, ribbons and decorations that you can pin or sew onto the sweater. Don’t forget to use the traditional holiday colors, that’s key.

What do you think about the look? Is it ugly enough? Or should I add more curling ribbon?
