How to Make a Natural Leaf Garland

Craft a vibrant natural leaf garland with just a few simple materials to bring a lively touch to your fall decorations. It’s an easy and fun way to celebrate the season!

Is there anything better than finding a creative use for all those dry leaves piling up in the fall? How about transforming them into vibrant decorations that bring a burst of color to your home?

This project turned out to be one of the simplest and most budget-friendly crafts I've ever done, yet it’s also incredibly beautiful and eye-catching.

Originally, I planned to display the collected leaves in a glass vase alongside some I already had on the table. However, once I got home, I decided to add a splash of color to them. This way, they would coordinate perfectly with the other accessories and decorations throughout my home.

Here’s a peek at how I used these painted leaves once they were ready:

How to Make a Natural Leaves Garland:

  1. Select Your Leaves:

  • Gather some dried leaves for your garland from around your neighboorhood. If you find fresh leaves, allow them to dry completely before starting.

  • Dried leaves work best for this project as they are more durable and easier to paint.

    2. Paint the Leaves:

  • If you want to add some color, apply two layers of non-toxic acrylic paint to the leaves.

  • Allow the paint to dry completely.

    3. Prepare the Yarn:

  • Cut a length of thin yarn to your desired garland length. Make sure it’s long enough to fit your space and leave some extra for hanging.

    4. Attach the Leaves:

  • Thread the leaves by wrapping yarn around their stems.

  • Space them evenly along the length of the garland to create a balanced and beautiful display.

    5. Create a Garland:

  • Arrange the leaves along the yarn in your desired pattern. You can alternate colors, sizes, or types of leaves for a more dynamic look.

Hang the finished garland in your home to instantly brighten up your space. It will look charming draped around a window or decorating your mantel.

Imagine making a beautiful fall wreath for your door using these colorful leaves. It would be such a gorgeous addition to your home, wouldn’t it?
