DIY: Valentine’s Day Watercolor Cookies

Check out how to make edible watercolor paint to decorate cookies with the kids and family.

I wanted to create watercolor edible paint because I have this idea of painting white chocolate covered cookies with hearts, quotes and other cute things this Valentine’s Day. Soon I realized that is activity was actually more fun if I include my nephews and the whole family because each one of them could create their own lovely design.

I knew I needed a cookie that had a white and smooth finish to be able to use it as a canvas or background, but I didn’t want to make my own cookies because they not always turned out pretty and smooth. So I decided to look in the grocery store and I found a package of Oreo cookies covered in white chocolate that I knew would be perfect for this project!

TIP:

If you can’t find this Oreo cookies, you can cover regular Oreos with melting white chocolate. Get white chocolate chips and melt them down by heating them in a double boiler. Dip the cookies in the melted chocolate. Let them dry in the refrigerator for one or two hours. Take them out and they will be ready to be decorated.

INGREDIENTS:

How to Create Watercolor Edible Paint:

  2. Add more drops of food coloring if you want your design to be more bright. You can also paint with the food coloring directly in the cookies for brighter tones. You can create new tones by mixing colors together.

For smaller details, you can get some food edible color markers because .

I used the edible watercolor paint to add a design in the cookies, and then the markers for smaller details and write quotes and words.

I like this fun and cheesy DIY idea for Valentines Day because it’s simple and entertaining.

You can decorate these cookies with your friends or use them as a way to entertain the kids and let them create their own designs. They’ll have a lot of fun!

Check out the DIY video above, the video is in Spanish, but you can have a better idea of the details and steps. Don’t stress much about them looking perfect, the important thing is to create amazing memories.
